Privacy Policy

owenmel.com is a personal site listing the small products Mel Owen builds, with real, server-pinged status for each. It is written to be genuinely readable, not to bury the important parts — but it is not a substitute for legal advice.

1. Who this is

Mel Owen operates owenmel.com and is the data controller for the information described below. Reach out at hello@owenmel.com for any privacy question, request, or complaint.

2. What this site collects

• Pageview analytics — self-hosted, cookie-less analytics (Umami) that records aggregate pageviews, referrers, and country-level location from your IP address. It does not set a tracking cookie and does not fingerprint you across visits.
• Error diagnostics — if the site throws an error, Sentry records the error, stack trace, and basic technical context (browser, URL) to help fix it. No forms exist on this site, so there is no personal data to include in that context.

This site has no accounts, no login, and no forms — there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to submit.

3. Cookies

This site does not set any cookies. The analytics tool used is cookie-less by design.

4. Who this data is shared with

Pageview and error data isn't sold or shared for advertising. It stays within the two service providers named above (our self-hosted analytics, and Sentry for error monitoring), used only to understand traffic and fix bugs.

5. Data retention

Aggregate analytics data is retained indefinitely in aggregate form (it isn't linked to an identifiable person). Error diagnostics are retained by Sentry per its standard retention window, then deleted.

6. Your rights

Because this site collects no personal profile tied to an individual, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete on a per-person basis. If you believe otherwise — for example, you think an error report captured something identifying — email hello@owenmel.com and it will be investigated and removed if found.

7. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

8. International data transfers

Error diagnostics processed by Sentry may be handled outside your country of residence, including in the United States, under Sentry's own safeguards.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS/TLS. Given the minimal data collected, the main protection is architectural: no accounts, no forms, no database of personal information to secure.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site evolves. The version at owenmel.com/privacyalways governs, and the "Last updated" date above changes whenever the text does.
